SUSTAINABILITY AND PACKAGING
Becoming more sustainable is of great importance to us and we’re delighted to tell you more about the packaging we use and how you can recycle and repurpose it yourselves at home.
WOOLCOOL PACKAGING
An award winning sustainable insulated packaging that keeps our produce cool on its way to you. Made from 100% felted sheep’s wool which is washed in a natural process, scoured then sealed within recyclable industry grade micro-perforated polyethylene wrap. Recyclable and reusable, these insulated box liners offer a sustainable solution.
WHAT CAN I DO WITH THEM?
Return them
Believed to be a first of this kind for a packaging company in this sector, WoolCool's return scheme allows ecologically-minded customers to return their real wool insulated liners to us for re-use. For free.
1) Wait until you have a few liners to recycle
2) Pack as many liners into a cardboard box as you can
3) Click here to print off a return label to stick on your box.
4) Take the box to your nearest CollectPlus store.
Reuse them
An alternative way to recycle your WoolCool is to reuse it. Whether you use them for insulating picnic items, removing the wool and using it as a base in planters or hanging baskets. Some customers have even lined hot tubs and sheds with it. See how other people are reusing them here.
Recycle them
Remove the outer plastic material and add to your local recycling bin. For the wool it is 100% natural so it can be reused within the plastic outing or removed and added to your compost. If you don't have a compost bin, the wool can be placed in your normal bin and it will decompose naturally.
CARDBOARD BOXES
All of our deliveries are packed into cardboard boxes. We will aim to reduce the amount of boxes used, however we like your produce to arrive safely so it may sometimes be split into separate boxes. Unfortunately we are unable to take them back to recycle for you at this stage.
WHAT CAN I DO WITH THEM?
They are 100% cardboard and can be recycled in your household recycling or taken to a recycling centre. Alternatively use for storage, moving items or using them for children’s craft activities.
GEL PACKS
We currently use gel packs, the contents of which should not be poured down the sink but placed in your household waste. We are currently trialing 100% water ice pack solutions that will be able to be disposed of more sustainably.
